4MyCiTy Zero Waste to Zero Hunger social and environmental impact focus is our commitment to help create a more efficient and equitable food and charitable system.
There is a fundamental absurdity in our food system: approximately 35% of the food we produce in the U.S. is thrown away, yet an estimated 42 million Americans struggle with hunger. We can help. 4MyCiTy Zero Waste to Zero Hunger social and environmental impact focus is our commitment to help create a more efficient and equitable food charitable system.
At 4MyCiTy, Our focus is on the Importance of Environmental Sustainability, primarily the Sustainable Management of Food in relation to food waste. Our Project was developed to operate around four primary phases that when executed successfully creates a ZERO waste to ZERO hunger initiative. Effectively our program is fighting towards ending hunger, while also advancing strategies focused on protecting our planet against the negative effects caused by organic waste.
From incorporation back in October of 2018, 4MyCiTy has distributed over 205 Million pounds of food to families facing hunger, that is an estimated 171 Million meals served.
Phase 1 - Source Reduction: Focuses on Reducing food wastage from the Wholesale and Retail distribution industry.
Phase 2 - Feed the Hungry: Focuses on eliminating hunger within our communities through effective rescued food distributions.
Phase 3 - Industrial/commercial use: Focuses on creating bio-degradable products or renewable energy through the utilization of food waste.
Phase 4 - Composting: Focuses on reducing the harmful effects of organic waste on our environment through our advanced composting technologies.
We have successfully diverted over 35 Million Pounds of organic waste from landfills and Incinerators to compost sites Since October 2018. In total we have diverted over 240 Million pounds of food from landfills, This equates to approximately 273,823 cars taken off the roads or 105,696 Metric tons of harmful carbon dioxide equivalent (Co2E) avoided. We are the first organization to bring on-site composting to a city setting, allowing for food waste to be converted within a 24hr cycle to a nutrient rich soil amendment.
A key component of our initiative is on the educational importance of reducing food waste at various stages, with a focus on addressing hunger and the negative effects potential food waste has on our environment when it reaches landfills or incinerators.
Thank you for your support, and we WELCOME you on our amazing journey.
